A message to residents following the incident in Madeley

I know many of you will have seen or heard about the incident in Madeley on Friday (18 September), and I wanted to personally reassure you following what was understandably a concerning incident for the local community.

We were called at around 6.37pm to reports of an incident involving a bus. Officers responded and made an arrest within 10 minutes, and a 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He has since been charged with 10 offences and was remanded into custody. 

I would also like to personally thank those members of the public helped the bus driver, and he also passes on his thanks. The care and support shown by people in our community is greatly appreciated.

I completely understand that an incident like this can cause concern, particularly for those living and working in Madeley, and therefore our Safer Neighbourhood Teams will be continuing with patrols in the area over the coming days. Please do speak to our officers if you have any concerns.

We will continue to keep you updated you when we are able to do so, and we also ask that privacy of the bus driver is respected at this time. In the meantime, I would like to thank everyone in Madeley for their patience, cooperation and support.
